I am responsible for the firm's overarching research policies, and the strategic research partnerships we have with universities and funding agencies. I also have a separate job in UK government as Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).
My current interest is in building energy management and the influence of design and engineering on the way people use buildings.
I am a chartered engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of ICE and the IET where I’m also a trustee. I have Visiting Professorships at Southampton and Sussex universities, and serve on the Council of EPSRC.
