I am the founder and CEO of Biofaction, a research and science communications company, and have an educational background in electronic engineering, biology and environmental risk assessment.

For almost 10 years, I have carried out environmental risk assessment, safety and public perception studies in a number of science and technology fields, including GM-crops, gene therapy and synthetic biology.

I have served as an advisor to the European Group on Ethics (EGE) of the European Commission and the US Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues.

As part of Biofaction I contribute to a better interaction between science and society though public talks, scientific documentary films and the organisation of the Synthetic biology science, Art and Film Festival, Bio:Fiction.

I have recently published a book ‘Synthetic Biology: Industrial and Environmental Applications‘ which provides a 360 degree analysis on promising industrial and environmental applications.
