I joined Arup in 1978, setting up Arup’s tunnel design practice before going on to lead the work on the 2013 Olympic Park in London.

My career has always centred on infrastructure, with a particular interest in reducing the costs associated with infrastructure delivery. From 2006 to 2008 I was Chairman of the British Tunnelling Society and I currently sit on the Executive Board and Council of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

I’m currently working on the UK’s second high-speed rail project, HS2.
