I’m an Arup Fellow specialising in seismic hazard and risk assessment and geotechnical earthquake engineering.

I joined Arup in London in 1980 and moved to Hong Kong in 1993. I recently designed the lateral support system for the 16-hectare 18m-deep basement at the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort. This huge fast-track excavation within deep soft clay and divided into many contracts proved a challenge. However, it represented what I enjoy most about working at Arup: the personal freedom, the environment of enthusiasts and the world-class projects.
