Since I wrote about Beijing’s pollution...
I have worked for Arup for eighteen years as a structural engineer and design manager on a wide range of projects. For thirteen years I was based in Beijing and was lucky to have been involved on the design of the CCTV Headquarters, one of the city’s key projects during the 2008 Olympics.
I have since worked on a wide range of multidisciplinary building engineering design projects in China and East Asia including Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Taipei Performing Arts Centre, both with OMA Architects. I also became a keen runner and cyclist whilst living in Beijing – when the sky is blue, the surrounding hills transform into a world-class place to pursue both activities.
I have recently moved to Singapore, and look forward to comparing and contrasting its solutions to the challenges of urbanization with those of Beijing.
