I’m an urban planner with 30 years of working in the US and three months of working in the UK. I joined Arup in 2010.

I work at all scales, from site to region, and alongside conventional planning projects are frequently projects aimed at progressing the practice of planning through new methods. I see the long history of cities as illustrating the fundamental linkages between transport and urbanism. I firmly believe that transport planning is urban planning, and vice versa.

Technology is an unusual focus for my writing, but the upcoming changes seem sufficiently profound to offer real choices for our communities, and to demand attention.

I am a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP).
