I am a building services engineer and project leader with two decades’ experience. My approach is always to consider the building user and ways to improve function - and at the same time to develop designs that genuinely achieve a project’s architectural vision. One of the largest projects I’ve led has been the London Aquatics Centre, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. It’s great to know that now anyone can swim there for just a few pounds.

Sustainable and low energy design has always been something I’ve focused on, without necessarily badging myself a specialist in sustainable engineering. Designing building services systems that allow for lower operational energy demand – or lower embodied carbon – is simply what I do, whenever I can.

Quality is important to me and I believe in engaging with the full range of participants in a project so that early-stage ambitions are achieved, rather than gradually diluted and then abandoned.
